Microdermabrasion is beneficial to anyone who is dealing with fine lines, age spots, sun damage, acne scarring, enlarged pores, blackheads, milia, stretch marks, scars, uneven skin tone, dull looking skin, and some deeper wrinkles. It is not meant for the treating of acne as you don't want to open and spread the bacteria found in the acne.
There are two types of microdermabrasion which I offer. Diamond head and crystal. Crystal uses fine particles (like sand) of aluminum oxide or sodium bicarbonate with a vacuum/suction wand. Diamond uses a special applicator piece with an abrasive surface and suction. Both gently remove the outer layer of skin to rejuvenate it. It is a nonsurgical and minimally invasive procedure used to boost collagen and maximize blood flow to leave the skin feeling smooth and healthy.
Most people experience a bit of redness the first day of treatment. You should not touch your face or apply any make-up. The night of the procedure, just gently cleanse and moisturize really well before going to bed. Make-up may be applied the next day. Some flaking will occur a few days following treatment which is why it is best to get a basic or European facial in between treatments to obtain optimal results. Also avoid sun exposure and be sure to apply a morning moisturizer containing SPF. The entire procedure takes a little less than an hour.
More than one treatment is needed to get the best results. You only have one skin...taking care of it is important and the sooner you start, the less evasive treatment you will need later on. Remember, your face is the first part of you that people see.
